Empowering Inclusive Education with Assistive Technology: Torchit’s Mission
In today’s world, education is a right, not a privilege. Yet, millions of children with disabilities face daily challenges in accessing quality education due to the lack of inclusive environments, resources, and opportunities. Torchit, a social enterprise, is transforming the landscape of inclusive education through its innovative assistive technologies, designed to empower persons with disabilities (PwDs) to thrive in classrooms, campuses, and beyond.
Breaking Barriers in Education
For many students with visual, auditory, or cognitive impairments, traditional learning methods often fail to provide adequate support. Lack of resources such as Braille books, assistive devices, and trained educators adds to the challenges faced by disabled students. Torchit is committed to bridging this gap by creating a suite of products that not only assist but enable these students to engage fully in their learning environments.
Torchit’s flagship products like the Saarthi Smart Cane and Jyoti AI Smart Glasses have revolutionized mobility and accessibility for the visually impaired, allowing students to navigate their schools and read independently. Jyoti AI, for example, allows users to read any text in multiple languages, providing an opportunity for inclusive learning without the dependency on others.

Innovative Solutions for Inclusive Classrooms
In collaboration with partners like the Government of Gujarat, Yuva Unstoppable, and Bank of America, Torchit has launched initiatives to create 150 inclusive classrooms, ensuring that students of all abilities learn together. These classrooms are equipped with assistive aids, accessible teaching tools, and resource centers that foster an inclusive, supportive educational environment.
Inclusive Education Centers of Excellence
Torchit’s latest initiative, EnableMart, is another step toward achieving educational inclusion. Through this initiative, we are establishing 150 resource centers across India, where special education teachers and facilitators will receive training on using assistive technology to support students with disabilities. These centers will serve as hubs for innovative learning solutions tailored to the needs of PwDs, providing both technological and educational support.

Global Impact and Vision
Torchit’s solutions are not confined to India; they have been embraced globally, impacting students and PwDs in over 40 countries, including the UK, Australia, and Europe. By 2030, Torchit aims to impact 10 million families, ensuring that every child, regardless of their ability, has access to quality education and the tools they need to succeed.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to innovate, Torchit remains steadfast in its mission to create an inclusive, equitable world where education is accessible to all. By leveraging the power of technology, collaboration, and community, we are breaking down the barriers that hinder inclusive education and empowering students with disabilities to reach their full potential.
For us, inclusive education is not just about creating access—it’s about creating equal opportunities for learning, growth, and success for all students. Together, we can make this vision a reality.
